HS Code Validation
What it does
Validate HS code inputs using POTAL's 9-field validation system. Before classification, the system checks that all input fields are valid and complete. It verifies product name format, material groups against the 79 WCO-defined groups, processing methods, and composition data to ensure the most accurate classification possible.
How to use it
Submit product fields
Provide as many of the 9 fields as possible: productName, category, material, processing, composition, weight, price, origin, intended use.
Review validation
The classify endpoint validates all fields before processing and returns warnings for invalid inputs.
Fix flagged fields
If a material or processing value is not recognized, the response will suggest valid alternatives.
Resubmit
Correct any flagged fields and resubmit for improved accuracy.
